For those of you that aren't going to rock a ruby-red lipstick today, there are still other things you can do with your makeup that are festive - but not too corny. Try a Valentine's Day smokey eye look - sexy, cute, and festive all in one!
Not sure how to pull off the smokey eye look? It's a few simple steps:
- (After you've applied cover-up, concealer, bronzers, etc.) Apply your eye-shadow base. You can use MAC Prep & Primer, $17. This prevents your eye makeup from creasing and fading.
- Next, take a pink eyeshadow, preferably a hot pink, but pastel pinks can work as well. Apply it underneath your eyes - make it a thick line and blend it in with a blending brush. A great pink eyeshadow is Hot Topic's Medusa's Makeup in Electro Pink - $7.
- Take a frosty white eyeshadow and apply it all over your upper lid. Try MAC Eyeshadow in White Frost - $15.
- Then take a darker grey shadow and apply it to your crease. Make sure it's well blended with the froast shadow that you just applied to your lid. A great eyeshadow to use is Covergirl's Eye Enhancer in Shimmering Onyx - $3.
- Use a black eyeliner pencil on your lower lash line. You can also apply it to your water line, if you choose. Use a matte black eyeshadow, like MAC eyeshadow in Carbon and pat it over the liner to set it in place, and then blend it. Make sure you don't cover the pink shadow that you put on earlier!
- Use the same black shadow and apply it to your outer upper lid and blend it. This actually makes your eyes look wider and bigger! Then dip back into your pink eyeshadow and lightly apply it to the inside of your lid and blend it.
- Apply some mascara and voila! You have a sexy smokey eye!
